Hearst Foundation Awards $75,000 grant to Memorial Hospital Foundation
The William Randolph Hearst Foundation awarded its second grant to Memorial Hospital at Gulfport Foundation. The grant funding will be used to support the expansion of Memorial’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). In 2010, the Foundation was awarded a grant in the amount of $50,000 to support Memorial’s Infusion Center. As part of the expansion, Memorial’s NICU will transition from an outdated “open ward” style unit to 23 semi-private rooms. Gulfport High Visits Memorial
On Friday, February 6th members of the 9th grade student council at Gulfport High School visited Memorial to deliver stuffed animals to the Pediatric Unit. The stuffed animals were donated as part of a community service project by the 9th grade student council. Wayne Laubmeier, Manager of the Pediatrics at Memorial appreciated the donation. “We are truly grateful to these young students for thinking of us.” We will use these toys to provide comfort to our young patients while they are in the hospital.

St. Patrick Catholic High School Students Raise Funds For Memorial Foundation’s Breast Imaging Fund
GULFPORT, Miss. — On Monday, May 12, Jessi and Becca Hebert presented Memorial Foundation with a check for $3,241.00 to be donated to the Memorial Foundation Breast Imaging Fund. Jessi worked together with the student body and with the Lady Irish softball team to raise funds for the Dollars For Diagnosis project, which began in 2011. Since the inception of this program, St. Patrick Catholic High School has donated a total of $12,680.76. This includes matching gifts from Butch Oustalet and The First, a National Banking Association. Dollars For Diagnosis is a fundraising project at St. Patrick Catholic High School.

GULFPORT, Miss. — The Kiwanis Clubs of Division 14, an anonymous donor with Gulf Coast Community Foundation, and Memorial Hospital Foundation purchased and delivered a new Automated External Defibrillator (AED) to Pass Christian Middle School in Pass Christian, Miss. on April 10. AED’s are used to restore the normal rhythm during cases of life threatening cardiac arrest. In 2008, the Louisiana-Mississippi-West Tennessee District of Kiwanis International began purchasing AED’s for schools in the three state districts.
