The William Randolph Hearst Foundation awarded its second grant to Memorial Hospital at Gulfport Foundation. The grant funding will be used to support the expansion of Memorial’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). In 2010, the Foundation was awarded a grant in the amount of $50,000 to support Memorial’s Infusion Center.
As part of the expansion, Memorial’s NICU will transition from an outdated “open ward” style unit to 23 semi-private rooms. The new NICU will have a completed area of 15,509 square feet and increase the capacity to keep pace with community need.
“We are so grateful to the Hearst Foundation for this donation. Our patients and families will benefit from the updated and more private setting and I believe this will help achieve better outcomes for our babies” said Amy Haulsee , Director of Women and Children’s Services.
“Memorial’s plans for the new NICU resonated with the Foundations’ interest in helping children and families access state of the art care, and we are proud to be part of the endeavor” said Alison Yu, Program Officer William Randolph Hearst Foundation.
