GULFPORT, Miss.— Sue Walker, Bridgett Miller and Melissa Wilson, all Registered Nurses in Labor and Delivery at Memorial, were recently named Guardian Angels.
Shannon Cooper, a recent patient at Memorial, credits these three nurses for saving her life. During her pregnancy, Cooper was very anemic and needed blood. These three nurses donated their own blood specifically for her.
The Memorial Hospital Foundation set up the Guardian Angel program to give grateful patients the opportunity to make a donation to the Foundation in honor of a doctor, nurse, other staff member or volunteer who made a difference in their care or the care of a loved one at Memorial.
Guardian Angel recipients will receive a lapel pin they can wear with pride. Through her gratitude, Cooper made a donation to the Memorial Hospital Foundation Guardian Angel Program in honor of these nurses.
“In my mind, they are my guardian angels”, said Cooper, “without them, my daughter would not be here.”
