GULFPORT, Miss. – The Junior Auxiliary of Gulfport recently donated $25,000 to the Memorial Hospital Foundation for the renovation of the Memorial pediatric playroom.
“We are very excited about the new changes coming to our playroom,” said Jamie Traylor, Memorial Child Life Specialist. “We have been very fortunate over the years to have people and businesses in the community donate toys for the children. Our patients range in age from 1 month to 17 years. With these funds, we will be able to purchase a variety of toys and game systems to accommodate this wide range of ages,” said Traylor.
Junior Auxiliary President Kristen Van Kirk Gard adds, “Junior Auxiliary cannot think of a better place to share our resources. We are proud of our association with Memorial on this important project and look forward to seeing the playroom become a source of comfort and peace in an otherwise uncertain time in a child’s life.”
The Junior Auxiliary of Gulfport believes that caring for a child today makes an important difference, not only at that moment in a child’s life, but for the future. The local chapter was founded over 60 years ago and serves thousands of children each year through community and school-based programs.
