3rd Annual Guardian Angel Gala raises $45,000 for Memorial Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
Gulfport, Miss. ‑ The Memorial Hospital Foundation raised $45,000 with the Third Annual Guardian Angel Gala on Friday, March 24, at the Beau Rivage Resort & Casino.
A portion of the proceeds from the Gala will go toward a Digital Transcutaneous Carbon Dioxide monitor for Memorial Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Sensors are attached to the skin to measure the amount of carbon dioxide the patient exhales. Without this machine, blood would have to be drawn to analyze the CO2 levels. For a NICU patient, reducing excessive blood draws saves what tiny amount of blood they do have and reduces their risk for infection.
The Memorial Hospital Foundation’s Guardian Angel program allows patients to recognize the outstanding care they received while at Memorial Hospital. Patients recognize their Guardian Angel by making a donation and writing a brief note describing the care they provided. Guardian Angels receive a pin they can wear with pride as well as the note.
