2025 Burdonne Young Scholarships Application

The Burdonne Young Scholarship Fund was established in 2001 in memory of Emma Burdonne Young (1914—2009). Known affectionately as “Ms. Memorial”, Ms. Young was a nurse for more than 50 years and started her career with Memorial Hospital at Gulfport in 1951. Over the years, Ms. Young received several awards in recognition of her service, including MHG Employee of the Year (1972). In 2011, she was inducted into the Mississippi Nurses’ Association Hall of Fame. Ms. Young’s legacy lives on today through the Burdonne Young Scholarship Fund, which provides scholarships to dependents of Memorial Hospital employees.
