GULFPORT, Miss.—Memorial Hospital & Physician Clinics employees raised more than $10,000 in a fundraising drive to benefit employees of Refugio County Memorial Hospital (RCMH) in Southeast Texas. Working with the Memorial Hospital Foundation, employees donated cash or gift cards.

RCMH is a critical access hospital located about 50 miles from Rockport and 44 miles from the Texas Gulf Coast. The county-owned hospital employs 125 people in Refugio, Texas, and is in one of the hardest-hit areas in the region decimated by Hurricane Harvey.

Similar to Memorial during Hurricane Katrina, RCMH remained operational throughout the storm, even though the facility and employees’ homes were damaged.

“Nearly every employee suffered some damage to their homes and some lost everything,” said Gary G. Marchand, MPH, Memorial President/CEO. “Our efforts are aimed at supporting the employees of RCMH—both financially and emotionally.”
