Memorial Hospital Foundation Receives Estate Gift

The Memorial Hospital foundation has received a gift in the amount of $180,000 from the estate of John and Edythe Meyer of Long Beach.

Edythe and her husband Cmdr. John M. Meyer were married in 1947 and spent years traveling the world together.  They retired to the Gulf Coast after careers in the Air Force and as a hairdresser.  Edythe was also an artist and truly found her niche while living in Japan where they were stationed with the US Air Force.

The Meyer gift, one of the largest estate settlements received by the foundation, will be earmarked to support the needs of Memorial’s Emergency department.

“We are truly overwhelmed by the Meyers generosity. We look forward to utilizing their investment to better serve our community through our emergency department” Christine Weiland, Director of Emergency Services.
